A moment of petty glee...
Jan. 25th, 2001 10:39 amCall it arrogance if you like, but ever since I started working in tech support, I've taken great joy in being able to stump the techs on the rare times when I call in. I hate not knowing the answer to questions, and it just makes me feel better if the person I have reluctantly turned to for help doesn't either (as opposed to how dumb I feel when I call in on something that is blindingly obvious, like when I had to call tech support because the date I was entering in an online form got rejected. When it sank in that this was caused by me entering the year 2000, rather than 2001, I can't even begin to tell you how stupid I felt. But I digress.)
So anyway, I just signed up for DSL service from an ISP other than my current one. And because some services block the port used to send outgoing mail to prevent anybody using an SMTP server other than their own, I wanted to make sure of whether or not my new ISP was one of those.
Was on hold about ten minutes as the tech I was speaking to tracked that one down... :)
