Girl Sues After Hand Cut Off

And now, for the part of the story that drove me into frothing rage:
A 17-year-old illegal immigrant recently filed a $2 million suit against a Maryville pallet company after her hand was cut off while she was working there.

The teen's suit alleges that when she tried to get help from the company for her medical bills, she was told to ``go back to Mexico.''

The suit also alleged that when the company learned the defendant and other workers were illegal aliens, they continued to withhold payroll taxes, but didn't forward those taxes to the government.

If you want to comment on the case, feel free. But if your reply looks like you're taking my subject line seriously, be advised that I will very probably delete it with extreme prejudice. Although my day is nothing compared to what happened to Marie Alvarez, it's still managed to be quite bad for both blood pressure and temper.

Officials at several state psychiatric hospitals, including Rusk State Hospital, told Lufkin Daily News reporter Ashley Cook last week that because of state budget cuts, they were not taking new patients . . . Welcome to the Texas of "no new taxes." . . . A year later, Texas is now a sadder state. And, contrary to the lies we were told, our taxes are going up, too.

Oh, thank you SO MUCH, Governor Perry. Because gods know those people aren't actually sick in the head; gods KNOW that they just need to take a deep breath and snap out of it. Bad enough your insurance "reform" means that the people of Texas are paying more for insurance than before (if they can get it at all,) but now we're back to strangling mental healthcare facilities, too?

You bastard. You smarmy Rove-created bastard.
