Aug. 21st, 2008 06:43 pmI keep seeing people complaining about Democratic candidates running a centrist campaign, and citing Kerry and Gore. What they seem to have forgotten was that Bill Clinton also ran as a centrist, and won twice. I'd argue that it is not necessarily running as a centrist that kills a Democrat's chances, as running a centrist campaign badly - although in Gore's case, the way the media declared war on him (and you're not going to get me to accept an argument that the way they kept lying about what he'd said was anything other than that) also played its part.
