Dec. 2nd, 2008 09:58 pmI wish that I could say that I was being overly cynical when I found the timing of the announcement that we are in a recession a bit ... too convenient. For the last year we've had the GOP proclaiming all over the land that the economy is strong, that it might be going through a slight correction, but there's nothing to worry about, and now that President-elect Obama's term is about to start, now they say we're in a recession? Just in time for people on the right to start up the Big Lie engine and claim that it's all President Obama's fault?
I wish I could say that I was being too cynical when I think that, but I honestly can't. If the wingnut blogacracy isn't full of Malkin, Limbaugh, Hannity and the various yatterlings at Redstate, Little Green Footballs and what have you spinning the matter hard and fast enough to cut through diamond by February, trying to make it sound as though it somehow only really manifested after Obama took office, I will be pleasantly surprised - but I ain't expecting that to happen.
