Oct. 17th, 2006 04:15 pmI used to hate Matthew Perry. Never liked Friends much, and so all the actors who starred on it had an automatic strike against them in my book. Yeah, I know, I was stupid. As the whole EMO!Anakin Skywalker thing from episodes 2 and 3 teaches those of us who've seen Hayden Christiansen in movies where he's, y'know, acted, sometimes the things you hate about an actor are the director and/or writer's fault.
The Whole Nine Yards taught me different where Perry's concerned, and his performances on Studio 60 on teh Sunset Strip... Wow. I mean, wow. He's just plain awesome in that.
I've been replaying the final scene of last night's episode a lot, and when he says "Harriet, I don't even have our number," it punches me right in the heart every damn time I hear it. If you've ever stood there across from somebody, not really knowing how you felt about them, but wanting to so badly, you know exactly what he's feeling just then. And it hurts in all the right ways.
