There is something almost sinfully pleasing about having a cat curled up against your foot and sleeping.

Yep. I sometimes miss the Ex's cat. Of course, there is a similar feeling when you have a dog siting by you calmly protecting his "Top Dog" from would be predators, especially if that dog is the happiest creature on the planet.
